The Lasersport
Business Opportunity
Lasersport is one of the
most popular activities in the UK. It can be run at a variety of
locations including hotels, camp sites, country fairs and it is one of
the principal activities available on the corporate entertainment
market.
At public events, for
example fairs and on camp sites the average charge is £2 for 15
targets. Five people shoot at the same time and 15 targets takes about
5 minutes, so the system can bring in £120 per hour. It is not
realistic to assume that the system will be busy all the time,
although at some of the larger shows operators experience queues
throughout the day and takes of £1,000 per day have been reported. It
is more realistic to work on an income of around £250 - £400 per
day, depending on the venue.
Many operators
specialise in corporate events. Here the typical charge for a half day
is between £300 and £550 and a full day between £650 and £900. The
variance will depend on factors including whether you need to travel
to the venue and the pricing the area will support.
Typically a Lasersport
operator can expect to make between £30,000 and £50,000 per annum.
Many operators build
their business to offer more activities and thus create a larger
organisation. Progressive Resources Ltd is based in The New Forest on
the South Coast of England. They started in 1989 with one Lasersport
system and now own the largest corporate event company in their area
with a turnover of more than £2m.
The full Lasersport
system consists of the principal kit with an electronic clay launcher
and the PARISS indoor system. This costs £20,000 plus VAT. You can
buy a system without the automatic launcher (you use a manual one) and
PARISS and this costs £15,000 plus VAT. Many people start their
business this way and build up to having the full kit Leasing options
are available.
